We virtually sat down with Mike Platek, Mavenoid’s Head of Customer Success, to learn more about his role at Mavenoid and his experience since joining 0ver a year ago as one of the first people in the US.
What made you decide to work at Mavenoid?
The biggest motivator to join Mavenoid was their culture and the people I met during the interview process. My initial impression was that Mavenoid had a very mature and steadfast culture for being a young startup. There was a clear company vision from day one that I resonated with. Thankfully, my hunch was right :) I’m super proud to be a Maven!
What motivates you to wake up and go to work? Specifically, how do you feel about going to work in the morning at Mavenoid?
The ability to work with such smart and humble co-workers, and have a real impact on the company’s trajectory. After writing this, it sounds like a cookie-cutter answer to this type of question, but it’s really true.
What is your biggest celebration/highlight at Mavenoid?
The thing I love to see the most is watching my team take on bigger and bigger challenges, and meeting these challenges with creative solutions. I’m truly thankful to be able to learn from this group of people.
How has the product evolved since you started?
When I joined over a year ago, I was amazed at how stable and advanced the product was for a Series A startup. A year later, I’m now blown away at how amazing and intuitive our tool is to use. Although a lot of my time is spent leading a team, I love the opportunities that I have to build flows within Mavenoid or train our customers because the product is just fun to use.
Can you take us through a regular workday in your role?
Typically I like to start my day early... it’s not that I’m a natural early riser, but I have two babies at home, so I don’t have much of a choice. It works out in the long run though because it’s great to get some face time with our global team before they finish up their day. After that, no two days are really ever the same, and I love it.
Days can consist of one or many of the following: strategic growth planning sessions with teammates, training customer personnel, tagging along a sales meeting to help close a deal, coaching and mentoring peeps, pretending to be a data scientist, and digging into juicy questions, experimenting with newly released product features and so many other things. Although this seems chaotic, there is a method behind the madness; I really appreciate our emphasis on creating coherent and ambitious team goals that roll up to our overall company goals. This allows us to organize, prioritize [and sometimes drop] the many things we are trying to achieve on a daily basis.
Name two words that you associate with Mavenoid’s culture.
Humble and hungry.
What are you most excited about at Mavenoid?
We are building not just a fantastic product that solves an ever-growing need but also a company that will be here for the long haul. I describe Mavenoid as my happy place!
